2013 Mongol Derby

The Mongol Derby holds the record for the “longest, toughest horse race in the world”.
The 1,000 km multi-horse race takes place across the epic wilderness of the Mongolian steppe and stages 35 endurance riders from around world.

Riders travel solo, navigating between stations with a GPS. Horses are changed at every station to ensure the horses' welfare during the race. This, including the route planning to ensure sufficient water for the horses, helps support the primary concern of the Derby's organisers – the horses.

This ultimate endurance test is supported by a network of veterinary specialists with the help of cutting edge positioning technology to take the best care of the steeds as well as the riders throughout the race.

It is the greatest equine adventure in the world that has a whole lot of heart for saving the planet.

The official 2013 Mongol Derby charity - Cool Earth

“We must save every rainforest in the world so future generations
have somewhere to get stuck. It's not just about the carbon, the
point is rainforests are indescribably excellent.” The Adventurists

We lose 32 million acres of rainforest every year – that's not easy to ignore. The Adventurists explain that an entire year was spent investigating who did what in the fight to save our forests. It needed to be something real and tangible; something measured in square metres and not in policy and intentions. Cool Earth came out tops and has been selected as the official charity for all The
Adventurists' 2013 adventures. >> Read more
